Ministry
At Northview
Helping
People know Jesus, Grow to be like Him,
and show Him to the world
Northview exists to glorify God through helping people know Jesus, grow to be like Him, and show Him to the world. This mission from God is accomplished through ministry.
Each member of this family has a special way of helping people that can be used by God to help them see Jesus. Some ministry is individual, and other ministry is organized within the church. Whether organized or not, ministry is simply loving people as Jesus demonstrated during His time on earth.
As a church family we intend to be about helping people. That, in essence, is the business of God. May God bless our efforts to lead others to Christ and may we always be seeking to be the church of God's intent.
The leadership organization at Northview is intended to free our elders to shepherd individuals and groups in this congregation on a personal level, while insuring a spiritually healthy environment in administrative, corporate and ministry areas.
Regular meetings of all elders and ministers will focus on Bible study, discussion of individual shepherding matters and prayer for the congregation.
While each elder is responsible to and available to every member of the congregation, members are organized on a rotating basis to receive special attention from a particular elder.
To the elders among you, I appeal as a fellow elder, a witness of Christ's sufferings
and one who also will share in the glory to be revealed:
Be shepherds of God's flock that is under your care, serving as overseers-not
because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be;
not greedy for money, but eager to serve;
not lording it over those entrusted to you,
but being examples to the flock.
And when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory
that will never fade away.
1 Peter 5:1-4 (NIV)
The organizational structure at Northview is designed to:
promote and sustain anticipated growth,
" be flexible and expandable,
" insure accountability,
" honor and protect the elders' primary responsibilities,
" promote communication, coordination and motivation at all levels.
Organizational Concepts
Shepherding
Elders'
primary area of responsibility -- includes caring, equipping, and mentoring.
This commitment must be honored and protected. Elders must be allowed to honor
their primary responsibility while providing adequate oversight regarding other
responsibilities.
Clusters
Division
and delegation of oversight responsibilities among sub-groups of elders.
Each cluster is accountable to the full eldership and will communicate appropriately,
effectively and efficiently with all elders.
Overall responsibility of clusters is to insure a spiritually healthy environment
in administrative, corporate and ministry areas.
Stewardships
Each
Minister is assigned a stewardship which essentially defines his primary areas
of responsibility.
Each Minister's responsibility includes coordination of a group of ministries
assigned to that stewardship.
Ministers meet regularly with ministry leaders to discuss priorities and plans
for each ministry and to assure excellent coordination among ministries.
Ministers are responsible to encourage, assist and pray for the ministry leaders.
Each stewardship is aligned with a cluster of elders and the Minister meets
with those elders regularly, allowing those elders to tend the church flock
in a way that is accountable to the full body of shepherds.
Ministries
The
success of our ministries will be assessed based on the overall level of involvement
within each ministry and across all ministries. Healthy levels of involvement
among all Northview members is a priority and will contribute to the effectiveness
of the ministries.
Ministry leaders are expected to delegate tasks to the greatest extent feasible.
Each of you has been blessed with one of God's many wonderful gifts
to be used in the service of others.
So use your gift well.
