Les Bonnett was born in Havana, Illinois. He graduated high school in Port Aransas, Texas and soon after joined the U.S.A.F. It was in the service that he rededicated himself to the Lord. Before his military obligation was up he decided to prepare himself to minister to others. Les went to a Bible School in Austin, Texas and then furthered his education at Freed-Hardeman University in Henderson, Tennessee.
In 1995 he began full-time church work and has labored in the Upstate of South Carolina as well as in Memphis, Tennessee. Besides ministering in the church, Les owned and led a military style exercise Boot Camp and served as a Certified Health Coach for Take Shape For Life. His passion is helping people – both spiritually and physically.
Les’ preaching philosophy is about people, the aim being to essentially help others get to the “next step” in their spiritual walk. Whether they are “churched” or “un-churched,” it’s about helping them make significant progress in the right direction.
Les is married to the former Mary Holland of Prince Edward Island, Canada. They met when Les was making a visit in a nursing home in South Carolina. (Just FYI, she was working there as SLP as opposed to being a resident. J) They have two sons, Pearson and Nicholas. Les and Mary’s youngest son, Nicholas, has Down Syndrome. Consequently they have a passion for helping in the special needs community. Les also enjoys spending time with his family, reading, exercising and working with his hands on cars and house projects.
Favorite Verse: “Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness of from God that depends on faith…” (Philippians 3:8-9)
