God's story is BIG
While God existed even before time began, His story began when he created all things. However, His good creation chose sin and thus experienced a separation from God that He never desired. Because of that separation, God sent His son, Jesus Christ, to set us free from our sin and lead us back into intimate relationship with God, our creator. This was accomplished through the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. While God’s story is ongoing, we know that it will end with sin and death being eternally defeated.
IN THE BEGINNING
Genesis 1:1 tells us God created the heavens and the earth. God is mentioned first because he existed even before creation began.
As creator and ruler of the universe, He reveals himself as the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit; each distinct parts of the one Triune God.
THE BIBLE IS GOD’S INSPIRED WORD
We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God (2 Tim. 3:16), and the Holy Spirit guided the thoughts and writings of those who contributed to the writings of the Bible (2 Pter 1:20-21).
The Bible is our primary guide and source of authority for all that we do. We strive to fully embody the teachings of scripture in every aspect of our lives.
WE ARE MADE IN HIS IMAGE
We were designed to be like God in character and likeness. We were beautifully made to be with God, but the course for mankind was altered when sin entered into creation. We are marred by disobedience, guilt, and even shame.
However, we were created to exist eternally alongside God. We believe that followers of Christ will receive the gift of eternity with God.
YET WE ARE BROKEN
The fall of man in the Garden of Eden set the course for humans. We are marred by disobedience, guilt and sometimes shame.
Man was created to exist forever. Either we will exist eternally separated from God by sin or will be reunited through forgiveness and salvation.
WHO IS JESUS?
Jesus Christ is the son of God. He was sent to us, born of a virgin and lived a sinless human life. He is fully God and fully man and now sits with the Father in heaven.
WHAT WAS THE MISSION?
A rescue mission saves those that can’t save themselves from immediate peril. Jesus offered himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all men by dying on the cross.
THE FAITH OF WITNESSES
Without the resurrection of Jesus; faith and Christian hope are diminished. Jesus rose from the dead and appeared to many witnesses.
This witness is still at work through the power of the Holy Spirit to make all aware of their need for Jesus Christ.
ETERNAL LIFE
God gives eternal security to those who believe and give their life to Christ. Salvation is maintained by the grace and power of God. We are, as Peter says, “Kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation.” (1 Peter 1:5)
Believers respond to the Gospel through the new birth (John 3:3-5)
WHAT’S MOST IMPORTANT?
Jesus was asked the same thing. His answer is quite simple; love God and love your neighbor.
Jesus’ entire life was an example showing us that loving God will produce exactly the life God expects.
LOVE IS NOT PASSIVE
Love is not just an emotion or something we feel. It produces actions that exemplify what love is.
If we truly understand the love and grace of Jesus Christ, we will love people and show them there is is no greater acceptance or sense of belonging than through the love of Jesus.
Questions or Thoughts?
We believe in continuously searching the scriptures to ensure our beliefs, actions and evangelism are pleasing to God (Acts 17:11). We simply desire to be the localized church Jesus established (Matt 16:18). Thus we take the name "church of Christ" (Romans 16:16). If you have questions regarding our beliefs, worship practices, etc., we would love to hear from you. Perhaps we can encourage each other to follow God more closely.
